Rose Mackenberg ultimately became one of the most enduring and prolific ghost busters of the early 20th century. She grew up in New York City during the early 1900s. As a teen, she had a deep belief in Spiritualism that lasted until she was introduced to Harry Houdini, around the late 1910s. Prior to meeting Houdini, Rose had been a private detective. Houdini invited Rose to join a team of undercover investigators, who would expose spirit fraud.
