Promote your museum, historical society, preservation organization, re-enactment group, or genealogical society with Nostalgia Magazine!
Nostalgia Magazine endeavors to support museums, historical societies, and other groups whose mission is to preserve and share history. We offer promotion of history organizations free of charge.
To promote your museum, digital archive, historical society, or other group, we offer several methods. The more often you submit material, the more likely Nostalgia readers will be made aware of your offerings.
To promote your Museum Exhibits, Historical Society, Preservation Organization, or other group on Nostalgia, we offer two basic methods:
- Snippets: The best way to promote on Nostalgia’s app and website is to host a story or article on your own website. Then, submit a photo, an 80-word intro, and a link to your story page. Snippets will lead Nostalgia readers directly to your organization, where they can learn more about you.
Your story page should include historical information on a specific topic relevant to your organization’s mission – a short biography of a local or regional historical figure, a significant building of architectural interest, landmarks, a new museum exhibit, etc. If your website is optimized for mobile devices, you’ll have greater success with snippets. Check out the Bruce Lee Exhibit snippet below as an example.
- Articles: If you prefer, we can host your article instead, and provide links in the article to your organization. We are especially interested in articles with a local or regional focus.
Articles should be 700 to 1,000 words in length, and they should be accompanied by three or four relevant photographs. If possible, photos should be scanned at 600dpi. We only display low-resolution images online, but high-resolution scans insure that we can crop photos for best display. You are welcome to send us a watermark file to include on any/all images. Digital Photography Archives:
Your organization is a valuable resource to the community you serve. Show off your resources by promoting your digital photography archive on the Nostalgia app and website. We suggest sending us a photo, 80-word caption, and link to your archive. Linking to the photo you send us will give the best results. Be sure to include a call to action in your caption, letting readers know that photos are available for purchase. Here’s an example:
Nostalgia Magazine is happy to help promote events, but we do not host full articles for event posts. Please send us a photo, an 80-word description, and a link to your event page hosted on your own website. We recommend submitting your event information at least one month in advance.
If you prefer to send a link to a video hosted on your site (or on a third party site, such as Vimeo or YouTube) instead of a photograph for your snippet submission, feel free! Quality video is an excellent way to connect with your audience. This smart video about civil war reenactment is fun to watch and provides a lot of information in a short amount of time:
Local Authors and Historians:
Many local authors and historians work closely with museums and historical societies to publish their books. Nostalgia also offers free publicity to authors. Have a look at our guidelines for historians. You may find it beneficial to network with us so that your organization gets publicity any time a book that you supported gets publicity.
We’re eager to get your organization promoted!
Once we have received all of your materials, we’ll review them, and contact you with next steps. When your submission is accepted, there is no charge to advertise your organization on Nostalgia Magazine’s digital app and website.
The more often you submit new material, the more often your organization will get noticed by the readers of Nostalgia Magazine. We recommend a combination of snippets and video to promote your work over the course of a year, with a new submission monthly. Be sure to keep the seasons in mind, too, as well as traditional events your organization hosts.
We’re grateful for any reciprocal publicity you may offer. Please share links to the Nostalgia app on your social media outlets, if possible, or include us in your newsletters.
Please submit your materials to firstname.lastname@example.org
If file sizes are a problem for your email program, email us a link to your files on a file sharing platform such as Dropbox.com. Let us know if you’re having trouble sending files, and we’ll do our best to assist you.
Always include your organization name in your emails and documents so that we can link all submission information together. It’s also helpful if your name is included in the filename of all photos you submit.
Nostalgia Magazine receives countless submissions on a daily basis, so please be patient. We read every submission, and we will process yours as soon as possible.
