Promote Your Books with Nostalgia Magazine!
Nostalgia Magazine endeavors to promote history research and writing, especially for local and regional audiences. We offer promotion of selected history books at no cost to authors and historians.
To promote your written works on Nostalgia, we offer two methods:
- Snippets: Submit an 80-word introduction to your book; a photo (public domain; or a photo you own or have permission to share); and link(s) to websites where your book can be purchased. Here’s an example:
- Articles: Or, submit a full article about your book; a selection of photos (public domain; or for which you either own or have permission to share); and link(s) to websites where your book can be purchased. Articles are generally 700 – 1,000 words in length. Each article should include at least three or four relevant photos. Please include captions and photo credits for all photos. Here’s an article example.
Photos should be scanned at 600dpi, if possible. Please note: We will only display low-resolution images online, but high-resolution scans insure that we can crop photos for best display.
You, or the sourcing institution, are welcome to send us a watermark file to include on any/all images. Please note: We also offer museums and historical societies free advertising (see our page for Museums and history organizations here).
More options: Help us create a video to promote your book!
If you submit 10 to 20 photos, we may be able to produce a short video in support of your work, with voice over, and more information about your book.
If you send us good quality audio and/or video of yourself speaking about three highlights of your book, we may be able to incorporate your audio and/or video into your promotion as well. Please do not send us complete videos of lectures and/or book signings, as we do not have time to sift through hours of video to capture the highlights. Find guidelines for self-filmed audio and video production best practices posted here.
If you have produced your own short video about your book, send us the link in your email submission, and we’ll consider it with your other materials.
We’re eager to get your book promoted!
Once we have received all of your materials, we’ll review them, and contact you with next steps. When your submission is accepted and promoted, there is no charge to advertise your book on Nostalgia Magazine’s digital app and website.
The more often you submit new material, the more often your book will get noticed by the readers of Nostalgia Magazine. We recommend a combination of snippets, articles, and video to promote your work over the course of a year, with a new submission on a monthly basis. Be sure to keep the seasons in mind when gift giving is most popular (Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or relevant holidays to your work).
Please submit your materials to firstname.lastname@example.org
If file sizes are a problem for your email program, email us a link to your files on a file sharing platform such as Dropbox.com. Let us know if you’re having trouble sending files, and we’ll do our best to assist you.
Always include your name, book title, and publishing company in your emails and documents so that we can link all submission information together. It’s also helpful if your name is included in the filename of all photos you submit.
Nostalgia Magazine receives countless submissions on a daily basis, so please be patient. We read every submission, and we will process yours as soon as possible.
Nostalgia Magazine does not publish/promote works of fiction or op-ed articles. However, we will consider promoting books in the historical fiction genre.
Nostalgia Magazine welcomes material on the history of religion and politics, and we evaluate all religious or political material carefully. We will not publish material that is explicitly meant to proselytize instead of inform.
Nostalgia Magazine reserves the right to decline material that is derogatory, hateful, disrespectful, or generally vulgar.
